MORE people are out of work in Slough than this time last year.
The latest data from the Job Centre shows that 1,305 people were claiming job seekers allowance or universal credits in August, as opposed to 1,290 in July and 1,285 in August last year.
The number of young people, aged 18-24, in out of work in August was 225, up from 220 in July and also an increase on 205 recorded in August last year.
Izzy Segarra, employer advisor at Slough Job Centre, said: "We tend to find with this time of year with school leavers and people finishing university that the number does go up.
"This month we will be having employers in pretty much every day running recruitment sessions and that will help to get these figures down."
